The DVSA is rolling out new brake testing regulations for HGV’s to enhance road safety. Here’s what fleet owners need to know to stay compliant:

Key Changes:

• Mandatory Brake Performance Assessment (From April 2025)
  All safety inspections must include one of the following:
• Increased Testing Frequency
  Perform at least 4 laden brake tests annually, with one during the MOT test.
• EBPMS for Ongoing Monitoring
  Use EBPMS between inspections, with reports accepted in place of RBT.
• Risk Assessment
  If RBT isn’t done, a risk assessment by a qualified individual is required.
