In 1977 good friends and work colleagues Joe Guidotti and Don Fergerson founded Ferdotti Motor Services, the business name formed using the surnames of the two partners; ‘Fer’ of Fergerson and ‘dotti’ from Guidotti.
In 1977 good friends and work colleagues Joe Guidotti and Don Fergerson founded Ferdotti Motor Services, the business name formed using the surnames of the two partners; ‘Fer’ of Fergerson and ‘dotti’ from Guidotti.
Don Fergerson left the business and Joe continued to trade under the name Ferdotti Motor Services, with Mary Guidotti; Joe’s wife joining the business to head up the accounts department.
Ferdotti moves just down the road to its current site and opens a newly renovated purpose-built workshop and reception offices. The newly developed property includes a pit, MOT test lane and two further ramps.
Tim Guidotti, Joe’s eldest son joins the business fulltime as a director and the business is incorporated becoming Ferdotti Motor Services Ltd.
Derelict Property adjacent to the premises ‘Workshop 2’ is purchased with a view to grow the workshop but local authority plans to turn the site into residential housing halts development.
Growing demand enables the development of ‘Workshop 2’ which begins in 2013 and completes in 2014; this adds 4500sqft of extra height workshop space and enables multiple HGV vehicles to be repaired at any one time. 7 extra working bays are gained during this development.
In 2014 an Old Joinery Shop becomes available to buy on the same industrial estate; which is snapped up quickly. This enables the opening of a 7000sqft bodyshop on the same site as the main mechanical repair business.
An opportunity to purchase another adjacent property with 2000sqft of workshop space enables the addition of 4 working bays all with 4.5t lifting capacity.
In January 2020; Tim finally managed to secure the much sort after premises to the rear of the main site after 20 years of asking! This set of workshops and yard added four further working bays and useful additional parking.
29 years after moving into the original offices, it was time for an extension to cater for the growing office team. Work commenced in March 2021 on the full development of the office block including an extension, an extra floor and full renewal of all services, refurbishment and new furniture, IT and telephone system. The result of this development means customers enjoy a modern reception area, stylish customer toilet and a light and airy comfortable waiting area serving Lavazza Coffee and biscuits!
In June 2024; a new state of the art workshop facility was opened to expand operations adding a further four bays and 20 car park spaces.
